The 10th month of the year, October means athletics. Here on campus, athletics is well underway. Four Pace teams are approaching or past the midway point of their season. Three more teams are nearing the start of their campaigns. Chases for playoff spots are on. The first mile of a marathon of a season begins for other Setters creeps closer. And each team ought to have our full support in this hectic month.

On turf, Field Hockey plays nine games for October, four here at Peter X. Finnerty Field. That team is currently in the middle of the pack for the NE-10 Championships. Field Hockey will hope to hang on for a Top 8 seed and return to the conference playoffs. Over at Northwell Stadium, Pace Soccer is on the pitch five times this month. Our football team kicks off three straight saturdays. Their October culminates in Homecoming on October 26.

Then comes Goldstein Fitness Center, the home of four Pace Athletic Teams. With Winter sports nearing, a transition to the indoors and the shorter days. In other words: here comes the night games.

There’s Volleyball who are starting their NE-10 campaign tonight after beginning with 10 non conference games. They too are hoping to snag a top 8 spot within the NE-10 and play Postseason ball. They play here at Pace four times for October.

The pool is back open for Pace Swim and Dive. Their first swim was away at St Michael’s College on October 5. The Setters dive into their own water on October 19.

Ending off the month is Setters Madness. Meet our Men and Women’s basketball team. Win shirts and other gear. Get hyped up for the upcoming season. Figure out the schedule and which game you will attend. Even get a chance at a shooting free throws, three pointers, or event a half court shot.

For all of that, come to Goldstein Fitness Center, October 30. For any other sport, make sure to check out athletics. Whether that is a game on the gridiron on saturday or on the court for a fast paced VB game. Even the aquatic enthusiasts of the world have a sport to cheer for. Us sports watchers have one reason to cheer for them: They’re Setters just like us. The only (good)problem to have is deciding which game to see.
